About Nate
I grew up in California as a very active young person. I was either playing sports or making silly (and cool too) music videos with my brother and friends. Although I appeared to be outgoing and confident to others, I always felt a nagging fear that I was not good enough or truly lovable. I developed a stutter when I was 6 years old and I let this hold me back in many ways early on in life. It wasn’t until I began practicing yoga, meditation, and self-study in my mid-twenties that I began to break free from old ways of being that were keeping me stuck in cycles of worry, anger, low self-esteem, and addiction. Family challenges were what ultimately pushed me to the point of committing to making significant life changes. I felt like I had to do something very different if this life would be worth living.
The practice and study of yoga became my focus. The initial plunge inside consisted of the desire to connect with peace and love within myself. I stepped away from long-standing relationships and spent a lot of time alone. After some time, I felt a strong pull to change my career and heal my relationship with my family. I began teaching yoga, giving Thai Massage, and soon found myself co-leading yoga teacher trainings. I discovered I had a passion for assisting others through the murky and often painful experiences of life. Once the pandemic started, I began creating and facilitating online spiritual development courses for courageous groups of people (soon to be available as self-led courses on this website).
This led me to Naropa University in 2022 to pursue a graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Contemplative Psychotherapy and Buddhist Psychology. I am now offering therapeutic Thai Massage and Contemplative Counseling for individuals, couples, and groups in Longmont, Colorado, assisting people in connecting with their inherent resilience, wisdom, compassion, and joy so they can show up in this world with great purpose—for their loved ones, their friends, and their communities—in the most beneficial way possible. Boy, do we need all of our best selves more than ever right now!
